On Sunday, February 13 at 7:29pm ET (00:29 UTC on Monday), ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) launched the EOS-04 satellite atop a PSLV-XL (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) rocket from the First Launch Pad at the Satish Dawhan Space Centre in India. PSLV is a launch vehicle built by ISRO to launch satellites into polar orbits. EOS-04, also called RISAT (Radar Imaging Satellite), is an Indian radar imaging Earth observation satellite designed for all-weather surveillance with a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). There will also be two small satellites launched on this mission, INSPIRESat-1 and INS-2TD. INSPIRESat-1 is a scientific satellite built by the US University of Colorado (Boulder), the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), the National Central University (NCU) in Taiwan, and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. INS-2TD is a technology demonstration satellite that is a precursor to the India-Bhutan Joint Satellite (INS-2B). This was the 14th orbital attempt of 2022, 80th ISRO mission, and the 54th PSLV launch.
