NASA's new rocket, the Space Launch System or SLS, is almost complete. The boosters, core stage, stage adapter (LVSA), and ICPS (stage 2), are all stacked together. They are also installing 13 Cubesats to the Orion Adapter. The Launch Abort System is also now connected to the Orion spacecraft.
After completion, the SLS will be tested at both the VAB (Vehicle Assembly Building) and the launch pad, LC-39B. NASA is currently on track for the uncrewed Artemis I launch later this year around the Moon.
Artemis II will follow. It will be a crewed flight test around the moon in 2023.
People will return to the moon on Artemis III. The Orion spacecraft will dock to the SpaceX Starship Human Landing System. Starship will then undock and land on the moon.
SLS and Starship will both be important in the coming years for the future of spaceflight.
