On Wednesday, February 2 at 3:18 pm ET (20:18 UTC and 12:18 pm CT), SpaceX launched the NROL-87 mission atop a Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenburg Space Force Base in California. NROL-87 is a classified satellite built and designed by the US National Reconnaissance Office. The Falcon 9 first stage for this mission (B1071), which had never flown before, will landed on Landing Zone 4. This was the 148th SpaceX mission, 140th Falcon 9 launch, and the 10th orbital attempt of 2022.
