Upcoming Crew Dragon missions



Here is a list of some upcoming Crew Dragon missions.

1. Inspiration4 - NET September 15, 2021 - carrying four private astronauts to Low Earth Orbit

2. Crew-3 - NET October 2021 - carrying four government astronauts to the ISS

3. Space Adventures Dragon Mission - NET Q4 2021 - carrying four private astronauts to Low Earth Orbit

4. Ax-1 - NET January 2022 - carrying four private astronauts to the ISS

Starship orbital test flight

SpaceX will launch the Starship orbital flight test in August. After launch Starship and Super Heavy will separate at about T+00:02:30. Super Heavy will splash down in the Gulf of Mexico. Starship will continue flying for about 90 minutes before splashing down near Hawaii. More information at the FCC presentation. SpaceX will work together with NASA for this mission.




Artemis update




NASA has a program named Artemis to take the first woman and the first person of color to the lunar surface during the 2020's. Here are some updates on recent progress on the uncrewed test flight.


Above you can see an artist's concept of the new rocket that will be used, the Space Launch System. Recently, the first core stage of the SLS arrived at Kennedy Space Center in Florida for stacking after a series of tests at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. So far the boosters have been stacked. Below are the steps to stack all the parts together.


  1. Booster Stacking - Complete

  2. Core Stage Stacking - Not Done

  3. Stage Adapter (LVSA) stacking - Not Done

  4. Spacecraft Adapter stacking - Not Done

  5. Orion and the Launch Abort System stacking - Not Done

NASA will also use the Orion spacecraft to take people to the Gateway lunar outpost before landing with the Human Landing System, the SpaceX Starship HLS, which was recently chosen by NASA to conduct the first human landing. Currently, Orion is being fueled at the Neil Armstrong Fueling and Checkouts Building.


All this will enable people to go back to the moon to stay in just a few years.
